Tomahawk River

Boating/Kayaking, Fishing

Once an important travel route for Native Americans and early traders, the Tomahawk River remains an important Northwoods waterway. It’s the largest tributary of the Wisconsin River and it begins in Vilas County, flowing through the Willow Reservoir and Lake Nokomis before terminating at Lake Mohawksin in Tomahawk. It offers a pleasant boating and paddling experience—there’s a landing located off Prairie Rapids Road in the Town of Nokomis.
