Citizen-Science Based Monitoring

April 23 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Treehaven Dinner and a Speaker Series
Citizen-Science Based Monitoring
April 23, 2019 – Dinner 6 p.m., Speaker 7 p.m

Eva Lewandowski, Ph.D. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, has a long and proud tradition of members of the public contributing their time to science and conservation. Citizen-based monitoring, in which members of the public contribute to the long-term monitoring of our natural resources, epitomizes these efforts. From monitoring streams to searching for endangered bumble bees and recording frog calls, you can volunteer with scientific monitoring projects that inform conservation and management locally and across the state. Eva’s presentation will provide an overview of citizen science, talk about the benefits to science and conservation, discuss projects in need of volunteers and explain how to get involved locally.
