The Tomahawk Fall Ride is an annual motorcycle rally in Tomahawk, WI. The rally is one of the largest cycle rallies in Wisconsin, drawing more than 40,000 riders to Tomahawk each September, and it’s a major fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The event features live entertainment and showcases the newest motorcycles and accessories from Harley-Davidson, which has two manufacturing facilities in Tomahawk. The 2018 event will be the first time the 2019 Harley-Davidson demo fleet is available. See it in Tomahawk first! The Fall Ride is the largest local fundraiser for MDA in north-central Wisconsin. Downtown activities benefit local and regional veteran’s organizations and are organized by VFW Post 2687. The weekend includes free events in SARA Park and throughout downtown, tours of the Harley-Davidson plant and a vending/music festival called Bubba’s Big Party held in Nokomis Town Park, about 9 miles north of downtown Tomahawk. Tickets for Bubba’s Big Party can be purchased in advanced or at the gate. Bonnie and Clyde’s Gangster Park located just north of town on Hwy 51 will have live music. Many local establishments and attractions hold their own special activities, live music and specials in conjunction with the Tomahawk Fall Ride. Chamber members activities will be listed on our master schedule as they become available to us. There is something to do around every turn.
About the MDA: The MDA is leading the fight to free individuals and those who them from the harmful effects of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases. The freedom to walk, to talk, to run and play. To laugh, to hug. To eat. To breathe. Each day these freedoms are taken away from kids and adults with muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases that weaken muscle strength and limit mobility. Together we can change that.
The Green Bay MDA office serves approximately 850 clients in over 40 counties including Lincoln and Oneida counties. In June 2018, we sent 90 children living with muscular dystrophy to MDA Summer Camp at no cost to their families. MDA Summer Camp is known as the “best week of the year” because they get to live unlimited, try new experiences, make new life long memories and friends. The MDA also funds 8 MDA Care Centers in Wisconsin to ensure that our clients receive the best care.
Thanks to fundraisers such as the Tomahawk Fall Ride at SARA Park, our research has paid off. In the past 2 years, the FDA has approved 5 drugs for 4 different neuromuscular diseases. Clients are gaining strength and mobility from these drug approvals and our families have been given hope!
